Jason Aalon Butler is expanding his repertoire by taking on a full acting role in a new short film directed and written by Daniel McCartney.

The film is called ‘Rust God’ and will have Jason as the leading light, playing Anthony Angel, a rising rapper trying to find his footing amid newfound fame, expectations placed on him, and industry-wide racism. Things then heat up when a mistake whilst on the road, where who he used to be catches up with him and serves as the base for his redemption in the face of danger.

Daniel McCartney had this to say about the film and why Jason was the only man for the job:

“Jason was the first and only person I asked to take part as the lead in this short film and that’s for a reason. His intensity and talent for performing arts are exactly what I was looking for to tell this story. Working with him was a pleasure and an honor and will undoubtedly happen again. Can’t wait for everyone to see his amazing performance in this movie.”

The movie has been announced and is expected to be released soon. A trailer is still to drop, but based on the images shared, it’s going to be a gritty epic.

Aside from this unreal sidequest, Jason is set to make his return to the UK later this year with letlive..

The band will be performing at Download Festival before taking in a trio of intimate shows, one at the Garage in Glasgow and two at the legendary Underworld in London.
