The Academy Is… have shared another piece of their upcoming album ‘Almost There’, and it continues down the bright, breezy path of the previous tasters.

Titled ‘L Train’, it’s a song that feels like the warmth of Spring slowly resting on your shoulders. A psychedelically blissful pace, matched with softly romantic, lyrical turns, it’s the sort of track made for the changing seasons as much as for those blissed-out moments of peace we all need every now and then.
A further signal of just how far the band have travelled in the last two decades and where their hearts and souls are firmly sitting these days.
Though according to the band, the atmosphere of the song isn’t entirely reflected in its intentions, as they explain:
“‘L Train’ is a song about those nights where you’re stuck in your own head; alone in a crowded room, surrounded by social ghosts. The song is dreamy, but there’s a haunting, nervous energy running through it. It’s our lens into a midwest mind trip where you’re replaying memories over and over…”
‘Almost There’ will be released on March 27 via I Surrender Records, and serves as a spiritual successor to the band’s 2005 debut ‘Almost Here’.
Vocalist William Beckett muses, “Almost Here was the beginning. Almost There is the reflection. It’s about checking in with who you thought you’d be twenty years later, seeing what changed, what stuck, and what still feels like home.”
